Cooking instructions

1. Heat the oven to 425°F. Make an X-shaped incision on the round side of the chestnuts with a sharp knife.
2. Place the chestnuts on a baking tray.
3. Roast the chestnuts until the skins have pulled back and the nuts are soft. This may take at least 20 minutes.
4. Take the chestnuts out of the oven, wrap them up in a towel and squeeze hard until you hear them crackle. Leave to rest for a couple of minutes.
5. Remove the shells and the skin from the chestnuts.
