Cooking instructions

Preheat the oven to 325°. Pat the turkey dry with a towel and place it breast side up on the oven rack in a shallow roasting pan.

Tuck the wings to stabilize the turkey and spray some cooking oil on the meat. Place an oven-safe thermometer in the lower part of the thigh without touching the bone.

Put the turkey in the oven. When it is about 2/3 done, cover it loosely with aluminum foil.

Take the turkey out of the oven when the internal temperature has reached 180°F (for stuffed turkey this should be 170°F). Cooking times will vary according to the weight of the turkey. A 6-7 lb turkey will need to bake for 2-2.5 hours. Add half an hour per additional 2 lbs.

Let the turkey rest for 15 minutes before carving and serving.
