Cooking instructions

Heat some cooking oil in a large iron-cast skillet. Sprinkle a little salt on the meat and brown it on all sides.

Add onion and a few garlic cloves to the pot. Add 1 cup of liquid per 3-4 lb of roast. This may be red wine, apple cider, water or beef broth.

Add seasonings and spices to taste. We recommend thyme, pepper and bay leaf.

Transfer the beef shoulder to the crockpot. Add chopped potatoes, carrots or turnips.

Cook the meat on low heat between 8 and 10 hours until soft.
